Oxyporus populinus
Although it is named Oxyporus populinus, which
refers to the cottonwood tree, this unusual looking polypore is usually
found on maple. This specimen was photographed in Cowley County,
southeast of Wichita, by Ken Highfill. It is a Kansas mushroom, but
just barely.
